Connecticut Co. Buys Mission Valley Marriott Hotel for $76 Million

An affiliate of Connecticut-based Wheelock Street Capital LLC has purchased the 350-room San Diego Marriott Mission Valley hotel for $76 million, according to CoStar Group and public data.

The seller of the property, at 8757 Rio San Diego Drive, was a subsidiary of Maryland-based Host Hotels & Resorts Inc. The hotel was built on 7.4 acres in 1989.

CoStar cited an SEC filing in which the seller said the property was sold in part because it was a “non-core asset” in Host Hotels’ portfolio.

Bethesda-headquartered Host Hotels & Resorts owns several properties in the San Diego market, including downtown’s Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego and Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, as well as Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina at Harbor Island.
