2 Top Destinations Earn 5 Star Awards

Park Hyatt Aviara Resort Golf Club & Spa and Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, two of San Diego’s top hospitality destinations, have each earned Forbes Travel Guide 2021 Five Star awards.

Park Hyatt, located in Carlsbad, receives the honor for the seventh consecutive year. It comes after the 200-acre resort underwent a $50+million renovation, starting in 2019 and reopening to the public October 2020. For Rancho Valencia, in Rancho Santa Fe, it is its eighth year in a row being named a Forbes Five-Star Hotel and its fourth consecutive year as a Forbes Five-Star Spa.

Incredible Honor

“It’s an incredible honor to receive this award for the seventh consecutive year from Forbes Travel Guide,” said Geoff Gray, general manager of Park Hyatt Aviara. “With our recent resort-wide property renovation, Park Hyatt Aviara is committed to elevating the guest experience and providing memorable moments for our guests as California’s preeminent luxury coastal resort.”

“We live and breathe exceptional service at Rancho Valencia and it is an honor to be recognized alongside the world’s best hotels and resorts in the hospitality industry,” said Laura McIver, general manager at Rancho Valencia. “We look forward to reaching new heights in luxury travel as we continue to innovate and exceed the expectations of our guests.”

The accolades are timely, as the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out is expected to entice more travelers to resume travel as soon as later this year. As such, the 63rd annual Forbes list hopes to “inspire those next adventures,” stated the company. Park Hyatt Aviara and Rancho Valencia, along with the other winners, were surveyed both before the pandemic and once regional restrictions allowed assigned incognito evaluators to visit, according to Forbes.

Added Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide: “These 2021 award winners are a testament to the resiliency of the hospitality industry. During an unprecedented time, these top properties adapted to numerous adversities all while maintaining high service levels and ensuring the health security of their guests and staff. We hope that these excellent properties will inspire travelers for when they are ready to venture out on their next trip.”

About the Resorts

Post-renovation, Park Hyatt Aviara guests can expect reimagined guestrooms and suites, new restaurant and bar concepts, 80,000 square feet of upgraded indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, redesigned public areas and lobby entrance and new pool offerings with seven distinct pool experiences.

At 45 acres, Rancho Valencia recently debuted a Pinarello Test Ride Program, marking the first U.S. hotel partnership with Cicli Pinarello, the Italian bicycle manufacturer, and allowing resort guests to ride complimentary Pinarello bikes, among other perks.
