San Diego’s Barona Resort & Casino has been named by USA Today readers as the best casino outside of Las Vegas.
According to a Sept. 20 post on the USA Today site, Barona, located in Lakeside, took top honors over other resorts around the country, including Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, which came in at No. 3 on the list. Others included are Foxwood Resort Casino (No. 2) and Mohegan Sun (No. 5), both in Connecticut (No. 2), and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, which entered at No. 8. Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, in Mississippi, rounded out the list at No. 10.
A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to pick the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were then determined by popular vote, according to the post. Other categories included Best Las Vegas Casinos, Best Casino Hotel, Best Casino Restaurant, Best Las Vegas Show and Best Players Club.
