The Cado Pop-Up Set to Open Late June

The Cado, a San Diego-based immersive avocado pop-up museum, is finally slated to open its doors later this month in San Marcos’ North City urban development. Originally scheduled to launch last year, tickets are now available starting June 27 through September 22, according to The Cado website.

Sisters and business partners Mary Carr, at left, and Anne Buehner, who founded & Boom Unlimited creative agency last year and are working on their first pop-up experience, The Cado, at their Encinitas offices.

Conceptualized by sisters and co-founders Anne Buehner and Mary Carr, owners of creative group & Boom Unlimited, the experience will feature six rooms with interactive art installations that will help attendees explore and learn about the green fruit inside and out.

“We’re excited to open The Cado so close to avocado groves,” said Buehner via a press release. “From nutrition and wellness, to agriculture and delicious recipes, there were no shortage of good things about the fruit to inspire the art in our pop-up. Our hope is that each attendee walks away with an emotional connection to the food they love to ‘gram and an appreciation for all that goes into bringing the avocado from tree to toast.”

General admission cost $19, with students and military receiving a $1.50 discount and children from age three to 12 paying $14 (children under the age of three are free). Sponsors for The Cado include the California Avocado Commission, Rubio’s Restaurants, Inc., Behr Paint and North City, according to the site.
