The Carlsbad Connector, a Coaster shuttle pilot program that will provide connection for commuters in Carlsbad, will launch on Aug. 19, according to a press release. The shuttle service, a partnership between the City of Carlsbad, North County Transit District and the San Diego Association of Governments, marks the first time such a program takes place in San Diego County.
According to the release, the Carlsbad Connector will hopefully “bridge the gap” between the Carlsbad Poinsettia Coaster Station and its surrounding areas, and will operate through an app, similar to those of ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft, through which commuters will be able to book trips on 12-passenger vans. It will be in service from 7am till 6pm.
The goal of the service, which is part of the City of Carlsbad’s Climate Action Plan, is to help reduce the number of commuters who drive their cars within the city and “reduce emissions by decreasing the number of employees who drive to work alone,” states the release.
More details on the Carlsbad Connector will be announced during a press conference held on Aug. 19 at the Carlsbad Poinsettia Station.
