Stanley McChrystal, the retired U.S. Army general, will speak about organizational leadership and his new book at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at the University of San Diego. He is co-author of “Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World.”
McChrystal may be best known for the 2010 Rolling Stone magazine profile that created controversy while he was heading U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Prior to that, McChrystal ran the Joint Special Operations Task Force, which he remade into a “team of teams” — an organization that was faster, flatter and more flexible than its predecessor — to successfully fight al-Qaeda in Iraq.
Today, he runs the McChrystal Group, a leadership and management consulting firm, in the Washington, D.C. area.
McChrystal will speak at the Shiley Theatre in the university’s Camino Hall. The $20 entry fee includes a continental breakfast and a copy of McChrystal’s book. For further information, visit www.sandiego.edu/events.
