Kairoa Brewing Co. is slated to open later this month in the University Heights neighborhood — right beside the UH sign, to be exact. The 10,500 square foot, two-floor space will serve house and guest beer, a full food menu as well as over a dozen wine options. In a nod to the founders’ home-base, New Zealand, Head Brewer Joe Peach will utilize New Zealand hops to create its beer. The menu will include pork sausage rolls, New Zealand mussels and a kiwi burger made of beef, tomato chutney, beets, grilled onions and a fried egg, among other flavorful ingredients. Additionally, the brewing system will be visible from the downstairs area, and the second floor will feature an open-air patio with a kids’ play area and a private event space.
