ViaSat Inc. broke ground Jan. 19 on a campus in Bryan, Texas, near the main campus of Texas A&M University.
The Carlsbad company plans to put more than 200 employees there.
The 89,000-square-foot complex on 8.6 acres is set for completion in the middle of 2018.
ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT) also plans to build a new headquarters building in Carlsbad.
ViaSat’s Texas contingent will concentrate primarily on the company’s managed Wi-Fi services business. The business extends the reach of broadband internet connections with professionally installed or plug-n-play Wi-Fi hotspots for both single and multi-site networks. ViaSat tailors the service to vertical markets such as education, transportation, hospitality, retail, finance and health care.
ViaSat’s new Texas campus will be part of a master-planned community called Atlas. Several of the company’s future neighbors are biotechnology firms.
