Teradata Strikes Analytics Partnership with Deutsche Telekom

San Diego-based cloud analytics company Teradata struck a partnership with Deutsche Telekom to provide small- and medium-sized businesses in Germany with data analytics support. The companies said the partnership would combine Teradata’s data analytics software with Deutsche Telekom’s infrastructure and IoT solutions.

Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Telekom offers telecommunications services in Germany, and the U.S. through subsidiary T-Mobile US Inc. As part of the partnership, Deutsche Telekom will add Teradata’s analytics platform, Teradata Vantage, to its portfolio of IT solutions.

The deal would provide small- and medium-businesses with analytics capabilities that would otherwise be limited to larger corporations, Hagen Rickmann, director of business customers for Telekom Deutschland, said in a news release. The two companies are initially focusing on helping businesses in retail, real estate and industrial production.

“Data and analytics – areas that are so crucial for all businesses today – are especially challenging for (small and medium businesses) to properly leverage, given their lack of in-house expertise and smaller budgets,” Teradata CEO Oliver Ratzesberger said in a news release.” Together with Deutsche Telekom, we are proud to close this gap by offering a cloud-based, simple solution: we manage the infrastructure, and entrepreneurs focus on the analytics that lead to answers, innovation and growth.”

Teradata relocated its headquarters to the San Diego area about a year ago. Ratzesberger was named CEO in January, and the company has been hiring to build out its local team of more than 1,200 employees.
