The U.S. Navy awarded Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) of Reston, Virginia a $41 million modification to a previously awarded, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide continuing sustainment support of integrated afloat and ashore tactical computer networks for Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific.
No funds were obligated at the time of award. This modification increases the estimated value of the contract from $196.5 million to $237.5 million.
Work will be performed in San Diego; globally aboard Navy ships; and at Department of Defense and military installations and facilities. The period of performance of the base award is from July 3, 2018, to July 2, 2023, and is not being extended by this modification. The Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, San Diego, awarded the contract, announced on April 14.
Leidos Helping Carrier Strike Groups
The U.S. Navy awarded Leidos Inc. of Reston, Virginia (NYSE: LDOS) a $22.6 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Mission Planning Aids Rev. A.
This contract provides Navy carrier strike group staffs and assigned/attached units with a collaborative planning capability that provides decision support services, analytic tools and common planning widgets to assist in the collaborative creation and execution of navigation and tactical plans.
These capabilities will also support plan monitoring, reporting and assessment to facilitate more real-time situational awareness and rapid re-planning.
Major tasking includes: development of new software interface capability that enables users to define, create and customize their own command and control planning system; development of a new shared electronic workspace that enables the planning team to enter tasks, constraints, conditions, resources and capabilities; and ability to consume sensor performance predictions, and other relevant data streams containing geographic or temporal components.
Work will be performed in San Diego with an expected completion date of Jan. 31, 2027. The maximum dollar value, including a 30-month base period, one 48-month option and one 36-month option periods, is $22.6 million. If exercised, the options will run concurrently with the base. This contract was competitively procured. The Office of Naval Research at Arlington, Virginia awarded the contract, announced on Jan. 31.
L3 Harris to Deliver Modernized Radios
The U.S. Navy awarded L-3 Telemetry and Radio Frequency Products of San Diego, part of L3 Harris Technologies Inc. (NYSE: LHS), a $15.3 million modification to a previously awarded contract. This modification exercises an option for the production and delivery of 255 modernized radios, to include 228 for the Navy and 27 for the government of the United Kingdom. Work will be performed in San Diego and is expected to be completed in November 2023.
Foreign Military Sales customer funds in the amount of $1.62 million were to be obligated at the time of award. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, awarded the contract, announced on Jan. 31.
Weapons System Work Goes to Serco
The U.S. Navy awarded Serco Inc. of Herndon, Virginia, a five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covering the Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) Alteration Installation Team. The deal is worth up to $64.4 million. This contract provides support in performing the functions of an alteration installation team with the installation of ship alterations, ship change documents, and ordnance alterations as related to the CIWS on Navy, Army, Coast Guard and Foreign Military Sales vessels. Some 30% of the work, valued at up to $19.3 million, will be performed in San Diego and is expected to be completed in January 2027. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division at Indian Head, Maryland, awarded the contract, announced on Jan. 31.

Progeny Steps Up for Subs, Carriers
The U.S. Navy awarded Progeny Systems Corp., a small business based in Manassas, Virginia, a $16.1 million modification to previously awarded contract to exercise options for engineering and technical services for Navy submarines and aircraft carriers via the software infrastructure and build process. The contractor will also install Nosis production builds on designated afloat, ashore and mobile platforms. Some 2% of the work, valued at $322,000, will be performed in San Diego. Work is expected to be completed by January 2023.
Fiscal 2022 National Sea-Based Deterrence Funds pay for much of the contract. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., awarded the contract, announced on Jan. 31.
