Qualcomm Inc. said Dec. 28 that it signed a licensing agreement with QiKu Internet Network Scientific (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.
The deal covers 3G and 4G wireless technology, including the unique three-mode technology rolled out in China. The agreement follows terms that Qualcomm and China’s National Development and Reform Commission agreed upon in early 2015.
QiKu is an emerging Internet smart device company in China. The enterprise, a joint venture between Qihu and Coolpad, has yet to complete its first year in business.
“We are pleased to sign QiKu as a new licensee and to support their entry into China with 3G/4G smartphones,” said Eric Reifschneider, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing, in a statement distributed by Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM). “As a new brand, QiKu is poised to deliver on what consumers want: variety, performance and dependability.”
