The president of Qualcomm Inc.’s Atheros unit has left his job to go work for Intel Corp.
Amir Faintuch is now senior vice president and general manager of the Platform Engineering Group at Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), a spokesman for the Silicon Valley company confirmed Sept. 2. The group designs Intel’s chips.
Faintuch will co-manage Intel unit with Josh Walden, the group’s current GM, said spokesman Chuck Mulloy. “Both are charged with moving quickly to accelerate our competitiveness in improving our performance in this important area,” Mulloy said.
Atheros is the company specializing in Wi-Fi chips that Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) bought in 2011 for $3.1 billion.
