A German court granted San Diego-based Memjet Technology Ltd. a preliminary injunction against HP Deutschland GmbH, a German subsidiary of HP, Inc., according to a news release from Memjet.
The injunction halts the sale of the HP PageWide XL Series’ 841 Printheads by HP Deutschland GmbH.
The court found there was a potential case of infringement on one of Memjet’s patents and granted the injunction because the infringing technology was about to enter the German market on behalf of HP.
HP Deutschland GmbH intends to ask the trial court to stay enforcement and lift the preliminary injunction, said a spokeswoman for HP.
“HP Deutschland GmbH will defend its intellectual property and believes that the legal challenge brought by Memjet in Germany is without merit,” she said.
Memjet Technology specializes in color inkjet printing technologies.
