Illumina Inc. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against San Jose-based Ariosa Diagnostics Inc.
The lawsuit targets Ariosa’s Harmony Prenatal Test that competes with Illumina’s Verifi test — both designed to detect fetal chromosomal abnormalities.
Illumina said it’s seeking all available remedies, including injunctive relief.
Only a handful of companies operate in the prenatal chromosomal testing space, including San Diego’s Sequenom Inc., which has filed lawsuits against Ariosa, too.
