We cover a lot of real estate in the San Diego Business Journal.
Occasionally, something unusual comes along.
Wedgewood Weddings, a national wedding venue provider, announced its latest acquisition: the windmill property in Carlsbad, at 890 Palomar Airport Road.
Details of the transaction were not announced.
Wedgewood said it will be investing $1 million in a transformation of the site, including the ballroom, ceremony space, a cocktail patio and an “extravagant” bridal suite. The updated space will showcase neutral, modern luxe decor giving it a distinct urban style.
“We’re thrilled to strengthen our commitment to Southern California,” Wedgewood Weddings President Bill Zaruka said. “This iconic landmark has always been a local focal point, and revitalizing the structure to restore it as a place of celebration is inspiring. By partnering on-site with the Windmill Food Hall and Carlsbad by the Sea Hotel, the entire area will benefit from the rejuvenation.”
The property, now called “The Carlsbad Windmill by Wedgewood Weddings,” will be ready for ceremonies in 2020.
Wedgewood’s head office is in Temecula with 41 venues nationwide and 14 in SoCal.
From amore to armor: Views are always in demand in San Diego, even views from a M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank.
Small business Palomar Display Products Inc. announced three firm fixed price contracts from customers totaling $10.2 million for the delivery of military display systems for the aforementioned tank and other fighting vehicles.
“The recurring selection of Palomar Display Products as a sole supplier of such vital equipment to the most advanced fighting vehicles in the world reinforces Palomar’s position as the sole source supplier of thermal sight displays for the U.S. and international armored vehicle market,” said Paul Bell, products president of Palomar Display.
