Cam Garner

SD 500 recap: Cam Garner is one of the builders of the local life science sector and has worked in diagnostics, devices and pharmaceuticals. He was part of the senior management team that built Hybritech Inc. He served as CEO and chairman of Dura Pharmaceuticals from 1989 to 2000, when Elan Corp. acquired it for $1.8 billion. Since then, Garner has founded or co-founded numerous specialty pharmaceutical companies, including Cadence Pharmaceuticals Inc., SkinMedica, Xcel Pharmaceuticals Inc. Among his most recent ventures, Zavante Therapeutics was acquired by Nabriva in July 2018. He is chairman-elect and serves on the executive committee of UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center.
