Michael Attanasio has been a partner at Cooley LLP for nearly 19 years. Attanasio was previously a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Public Integrity Section in Washington, D.C. He acted as co-trial counsel for baseball legend Roger Clemens in the obstruction of Congress and perjury prosecution brought against Clemens by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The jury returned not guilty verdicts on all six counts. Attanasio took the lead in debunking DNA evidence that prosecutors claimed linked Clemens to the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
