PRESIDENT & CEO, VETERANS VILLAGE OF SAN DIEGO
Akilah Templeton has been president and CEO of Veterans Village of San Diego since 2020. Veterans Village in 2021 helped nearly 800 families remain housed. Veteran homelessness is down 30% in San Diego in part because of the financial assistance, rent payments, childcare payments, and supportive services provided by Veterans Village and other service providers. Templeton was previously the director of U.S.VETS Initiative in Inglewood. She was recognized by U.S. Vets as Executive Director of the Year in 2018. Templeton earned B.A. in sociology from Cal State East Bay, a Master of Public Administration from Cal State Northridge and a master’s in social work from USC.
