Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, the U.S. grocery subsidiary of U.K. retailer Tesco Plc., plans to expand its San Diego County footprint with a store set for an August opening in Alpine.
The small-format Fresh & Easy has signed a 10-year lease for 22,015 square feet of retail space at Alpine Creek Town Center, according to a statement from the center’s owner and manager, Westcore Properties of San Diego.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the grocer will begin making improvements to the space in mid-February, according to Westcore. Fresh & Easy is going into a space that formerly housed Daniel’s Market.
Retail Insite represented Fresh & Easy during lease negotiations, and Cushman & Wakefield represented Westcore.
Westcore Properties acquired Alpine Creek Town Center, at 1347 Tavern Road, in 2004 and subsequently completed a five-year renovation. The center’s tenants also include Ace Hardware and CVS Pharmacy.
Fresh & Easy recently opened its 16th San Diego County store in Santee. It operates more than 150 stores in three states.
