San Diegan Hopes to Collar a Piece of the Apparel Market

A San Diego resident is helping a Texas business take a unique piece of apparel to market.

Eunicar Twyman is a co-founder of Siragusa Apparel, a business offering dress shirts with a unique, stand-up collar called the Notch Collar. The collar has two notches that fit into the lapels of a sport coat at the neck; the collar also has special fasteners. The approach creates a neater look at the neck and lets a wearer “pop” his collar out over the lapels, company officials say.

The business plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign Sept. 26 with a goal of raising $20,000 and getting production flowing, Twyman said. A $169 pledge covers a shirt, a garment bag and a $5 donation to Honor Courage Commitment, a Texas organization offering job training and mentoring to veterans.

Paul Siragusa of McKinney, Texas, has a U.S. patent on the collar design.

Twyman has a background in finance, and this is not her first foray into apparel. She has previously worked with football player Terrell Owens on an apparel business called Prototype 81.
