The new year brings several key changes to operations at the San Diego Business Journal. Mark J. Misiano has been named chief operating officer, a newly created position at the company, and George Lurie has been promoted to editor-in-chief.
Mark joined the Business Journal in 2004 as the company’s controller. In his new role, Mark is responsible for the finance department as well as the circulation and production departments. Mark has worked in the publishing industry for 20 years in all forms of media. He started his career at Ernst & Young and has worked in both public and private accounting, for large multi-national companies and smaller companies.
George Lurie takes the helm in the newsroom as the publication’s new editor-in-chief. George joined SDBJ in 2021 as a reporter and special sections editor and now will oversee newsgathering efforts while leading the Business Journal’s staff of reporters and editors. During a wide-ranging career, George has covered breaking national news for USA Today, managed an international staff of reporters and editors at the Japan Times in Tokyo and covered the Colorado statehouse for the Durango Herald. He began his career as a reporter for the Denver Post.
