Construction Under Way on Luxury Chula Vista Homes
The final neighborhood within the luxury master-planned community of Rolling Hills Ranch in Chula Vista is under way with three model homes now under construction. Built by McMillin Communities, Verona will offer 77 homes in Italian, Early California and Spanish Colonial styles on gracious lots averaging half an acre.
Verona will be available for previewing this summer with a grand opening planned for the fall.
The Verona neighborhood is located at the highest elevation of the semirural Rolling Hills Ranch community nestled in the foothills of the San Miguel Mountains. The homes will feature flexible floor plans with approximately 3,500 to 4,700 square feet as well as an optional 658-square-foot detached casita, making them some of the largest homes within the community.
“With Verona, McMillin has truly saved the best for last,” said Pattie Walker, vice president of sales for McMillin Communities. “Boasting both the best in design as well as a preferential location, Verona represents some of the largest homes and most spectacular views available in South County.”
Verona’s three floor plans offer a variety of options and customizations to accommodate all families and lifestyles. Homes will offer three to five bedrooms with 2.5 to 4.5 baths with a den, loft or study available per plan. The well-equipped garages feature three or four-car bays with one plan offering an in-garage workshop. As part of the McMillin Green Program, homes at Verona will include a solar energy system.
According to Walker, the Verona neighborhood represents a duality of elegance and leisure, with an abundance of local activities and amenities.
Future residents will enjoy membership to the private Coastal Hills Swim Club. The Tuscan-themed swim club features a large spa, junior Olympic-size pool, children’s wading pool, barbecue area and a patio area.
Rolling Hills Ranch is also home to Thurgood Marshall Elementary School, MacKenzie Creek Neighborhood Park and the massive 28-acre Montevalle Community Park.
At 28 acres, Montevalle Park includes three multipurpose fields, three basketball courts, two tennis courts, an off-leash dog area, picnic area, a walking trail and a 20,000-square-foot community center including a gymatorium and senior annex.

Senior Community Nearly Completed in Bankers Hill
SRM Construction Inc. is nearing completion of the Merrill Gardens at Bankers Hill senior living community.
Benson & Bohl Architects of San Diego designed the new 84-unit, five-story boutique senior housing facility at the corner of Laurel Street and Second Avenue in the uptown community of San Diego. The 1.38-acre site is on the same block, and adjacent to the Beth Israel Temple. The building design features masonry, horizontal siding, and heavy timber architecture with terraced balconies and roof forms that step down toward Laurel Street, culminating in a large rooftop terrace that offers spectacular views of downtown and the San Diego Bay.
The 131,000-square-foot facility includes dining facilities, a library, wine bar, salon, fitness and wellness center, as well as two levels of subterranean parking in a secure garage. The design team included Burkett & Wong Engineers for civil engineering, DCI Engineering for structural engineering, Schmidt Design Group for landscaping, Govis Engineering for electrical and mechanical engineering, Fard Engineers for plumbing, and Marsha Wall of NAC for interiors.
Property Acquired for The Crosby Development
The last development parcel at The Crosby at Rancho Santa Fe has been acquired by Davidson Communities, according to the California homebuilder. The 43 home sites offer canyon and golf course views and will accommodate both single- and two-story residences.
“This acquisition is another opportunity to build homes in one of the best performing submarkets in the country,” said Bill Davidson, president of Davidson Communities, a California homebuilder for more than 30 years.
The Davidson team is now focused on final design embellishments to plans created by Bassenian/Lagoni Architects. An onsite sales office will open this fall, with models scheduled to open in early 2012. Design Line Interiors of Del Mar will handle interior merchandising.
The Crosby is a gated community located just east of the Village of Rancho Santa Fe and is comprised of 70 villas, 281 custom-quality homes and 70 estate home sites surrounded by an 18-hole private golf course.
In addition to this Rancho Santa Fe new home neighborhood, Davidson is now selling unique luxury residences at Sentinels at Del Sur in San Diego. The homebuilder also is grading for two new neighborhoods in San Diego’s Torrey Highlands area.
Davidson Communities has been building high-quality homes of architectural distinction for California consumers since 1978. Information on Davidson Communities is available online at davidsoncommunities.com.
