Home Prices Increased 6 Percent in Year Ending in November

San Diego’s home prices increased 6 percent in the year ending in November, according to an index measuring housing prices, tied with Tampa as the eighth-fastest growing market.

The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index on Tuesday reported home prices gained 5.8 percent in the country’s top 20 cities, while the national average grew 5.3 percent.

Three cities showed gains of more than 10 percent. Portland, San Francisco and Denver, regularly in the top three slots, saw growth of 11.1 percent, 11 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively. Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Cleveland had the smallest increases of 2 percent, 2.1 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively.
