A subsidiary of Los Angeles-based investment firm Laurus Corp. has purchased the DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort in San Diego for $13 million. The 174-room, hacienda-style resort is located at 14455 Penasquitos Drive.
A Laurus Corp. statement on May 12 said the new owner plans to implement a “property repositioning plan” that includes renovations to its lobby, pool deck, guest rooms and landscaping. Its restaurants will be revamped to feature “al fresco terrace dining.”
SD Golf Resort Partners LLC was formed by Laurus Corp. as an investment vehicle to acquire and reposition the property. The seller was a subsidiary of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield, Mass.
The resort includes Terrace Cafe and Mulligan’s Sports Lounge, five tennis courts, 18,000 square feet of meeting space and a 5,500-square-foot health and fitness club.
Laurus’ other properties include The Palms condo development in Beverly Hills, Diablo Grande Golf and Country Club in Patterson, in central California, and Le Meridien Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico.
