The Plunge, an historic swimming pool at Belmont Park in Mission Beach, reopened on March 1 following a 10-month closure, during which it underwent needed repairs. It is scheduled to remain open through the end of September.
The pool’s operator, Wave House Athletic Club, said in a statement that it was marking the opening of the 86-year-old pool by letting visitors in for a 25-cent admission per guest on March 3 and 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Belmont Park is currently overseen by a court-appointed receiver after the park’s former developer, Tom Lochtefeld, filed for bankruptcy. The receiver authorized approximately $185,000 in short-term repairs of the pool’s roof to allow it to be reopened.
