Local Firms Get $57.3M Contract for Pendleton Water Project

A joint venture that includes Escondido-based J.R. Filanc Construction Co. and Orion Construction Corp. of Vista has been awarded a contract of approximately $57.3 million to design and build a new potable water conveyance system at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

A statement from the U.S. Defense Department said the fixed-price contract calls for construction of new, higher-capacity water collection system pipelines and three pumping stations. Work will be performed at the base near Oceanside, and is expected to be completed in April 2016.

Nine proposals for the project were received via the U.S. Navy’s e-commerce procurement website, and the contracting entity is Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest in San Diego.
