El Cajon-based Halbert Construction Co. Inc. is among six small businesses selected to compete for U.S. Navy construction work on military bases in the northwest region of the United States.
The company has been awarded a $25,000 initial task order, and will be able to compete for future task orders for up to five years. The six companies selected will bid on $99 million worth of new construction, renovation, alteration, demolition and repair work through 2018.
A second small business in the competition is the Burr-MZT joint venture, based in San Clemente, which also got a $25,000 award.
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest in Silverdale, Wash., awarded the contracts. Thirty bidders submitted proposals.
