A $40M Mixed-Use Complex Debuting Soon in Rancho Santa Fe

Locally based developer Newport Pacific Inc. plans a mid-summer opening for Palma de la Reina, a $40 million mixed-use complex being built at the entrance to the Whispering Palms residential community in Rancho Santa Fe.

A statement from the developer said retail tenants confirmed for the 31,410-square-foot commercial component include Salon Draven, fitness services firm Gyrotonic Rancho Santa Fe, Whispering Palms Cleaners and My Brighter Side, a store offering products for female cancer patients. Discussions are proceeding with other retailers including a combined deli, coffee shop and bakery.

Located at 5525 Cancha de Golf near Via de la Valle, the three-building Palma de la Reina is the final element in the Whispering Palms master plan, created by Newport Pacific in 1962.

The development firm, led by President and CEO Richard Cavanaugh, said office leasing at the complex is also in progress, with Rancho Santa Fe Cosmetic and Family Dentistry recently committing as the first tenant.

Also under development at Palma de la Reina is a residential component that will include 54 luxury apartments. It is under construction and scheduled for completion by the end of the year.

The mixed-use complex was designed by Robert Colbourn of Colbourn Currier Noll Architecture, with Klang & Associates as the interior designer and W.E. O’Neil Construction as the general contractor. Commercial leasing is being handled by Scott Danshaw and Steve Willmore of Lee & Associates.
