$20M Supportive Housing Opens

San Diego-based DW Construction plans to build eight single-family homes, after recently acquiring vacant land totaling 18 acres in Valley Center for approximately $1.08 million. The property is located along Rosebush Lane off Valley Center Road, to the northwest of Valley View Casino & Hotel, according to brokerage firm Lee & Associates.

The seller was W.E. Hartman Living Trust of Ventura, represented by Lee & Associates’ Al Apuzzo, Matt Weaver and Patrick Miller. DW Construction was represented by Park Row Properties in the all-cash deal.

San Diego-based Affirmed Housing recently opened Cypress, a $20 million supportive housing development serving homeless residents with special needs in downtown San Diego. The affordable-housing developer said the 62-unit project is at 1435 Imperial Ave. and has sustainable elements including a solar panel array to offset 60 percent of its common-area energy usage. Resident services will be provided by St. Vincent de Paul Village Inc.

Cypress was designed by Carrier Johnson + Culture and built by HA Builders. Officials said funding included federal tax credits, development capital from the San Diego Housing Commission, and transit-oriented development grant funding from the city.
