Zortman Assumes Chairman Role for San Diego Regional EDC

The San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. announced the appointment of Jim Zortman as chairman. Zortman succeeds Vincent Mudd, managing partner at Carrier Johnson + Culture, who held the post since 2014.

Zortman is sector vice president, strategic operations at unmanned aircraft maker Northrop Grumman Corp. He joined the business in 2008 after retiring from the U.S. Navy as a vice admiral. Zortman’s last assignment was Commander Naval Air Forces and CEO of the Naval Aviation Enterprise.

“Our collaborative region fuels San Diego’s economy,” Zortman said in a statement distributed by the EDC. “Yet there is still a real need to share resources and collaborate to ensure that our citizens can succeed and thrive here. We’re in the fortunate position to have an organization with the capacity to sell San Diego internationally and engage in community-based economic development efforts.”

Zortman’s term began April 21.
