The San Diego North Economic Development Council has accepted the resignation of Gary Knight, its president and CEO, according to a statement from the council. Knight, who joined the organization in 2004, said he was leaving for personal reasons. Council Vice President Stephanie Jungersen will run the nonprofit as the council board conducts a nationwide search for Knight’s replacement.
Board Chairwoman Jan Jackson praised Knight for his ability to create partnerships with businesses, government and other civic organizations. The center’s statement also noted that the organization grew financially under Knight’s tenure, and that Knight introduced several of the organization’s signature events.
The council’s goal is to grow the economic base of North San Diego County.
