Zagat Releases Annual Guide for San Diego Eateries

Popular consumer restaurant rating service Zagat’s has released its annual San Diego City Guide, with few surprises — and long list of places to eat in 2013. Japanese cuisine purveyor Sushi Ota took top honors in the overall food category, while Anthony’s Fish Grotto ranked most popular restaurant among the 11,658 participants who submitted votes and opinions. Pamplemousse Grill ranked highest in the new American cuisine category, while Bertrand at Mister A’s ranked highest in the traditional American cuisine category. The magazine also ranked hot spots for such offerings as brew pubs and nightlife. Head on over to zagat.com for details … Thanks to a successful experiment last month at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field, Southwest Airlines is now charging $40 if you want to board among the first 15 passengers departing on all flights in the system. Ticketed passengers can purchase the early boarding passes as early as 45 minutes before departure, if the passes aren’t already sold out. The service gives those with extra cash first crack at those overhead bins … New Carlsbad-based pizzeria franchisor Project Pie, which recently opened its first location in Las Vegas in the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, will be launching a second location on Fourth Avenue in Hillcrest soon. Founder and chief executive James Markham says he plans to open more units in San Diego, as well as Atlanta, New York, Washington and San Francisco. He said the new stores will “match the character of the building” instead of building out the store space … Mission Valley health care patient record services provider VisionTree Software is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2013. The company says more than 1 million patients at 150 sites are now using its cloud-based services, including UCLA and UC San Francisco medical centers … Fortune magazine has included Virginia-based Navy Federal Credit Union on its list of the “100 Best Companies To Work For” — the third time it has made the cut. The financial institution, which counts a number of branches in our region among its 229 offices, is the only credit union to make the list in 2013… Commercial real estate services provider HFF announced today that it has closed the sale of the Bridgeworks, an 18,569-square-foot retail condominium in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter. The sales price was $17.1M… And speaking of the Gaslamp, San Diego project management company Jaime Partners says its latest project, Kevin Roberts’ Kamikaze 7 sushi restaurant in that district, will open in early March … Finally. The Carlyle Group tabs Carlsbad-based senior community manager Integral Senior Living to manage The Point at Rockridge in Oakland. The Bay Area complex offers 149 assisted living units in an urban environment. Till next week!
