SDBJ Names New Associate Publisher

Bob Baranski

Bob Baranski, who has spent 25 years in radio, newspapers and new media, has taken the job of vice president and associate publisher of the San Diego Business Journal.

Baranski, 52, comes to the Business Journal from Entercom Communications Corp., a publicly traded broadcast company, where he was general sales manager for its Portland, Ore., radio stations. He was previously advertising director for the Dallas Business Journal and an executive coach for another nationwide radio operation, Clear Channel Communications.

“Bob Baranski is a multi-talented media executive who brings to us experience not only in business journal sales, but in creating greater value for our advertisers,” said Randy C. Frisch, president and publisher of the San Diego Business Journal.

“I’m excited about being in San Diego,” Baranski said. “I love the attitude here.” He added that he is fond of the industry, saying that a business journal is to business what a daily newspaper is to sports: “We’re writing,” he said, “for the people who saw the game.”
