San Diego will be celebrating its 20th Annual Fleet Week Nov. 4-11. The San Diego Fleet Week Foundation is planning a full schedule of live events to honor and thank San Diego’s active duty and veteran community.
On Nov. 4, events will begin downtown at the Broadway Pier. Student STEM Days, sponsored by the Judith Campbell Education and Community Foundation will be held all day Thursday Nov. 4 and Friday morning Nov. 5.
Starting on Friday afternoon, Nov. 5 and continuing through Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, Navy and Coast Guard ships and Marine Corps equipment will be open to the public. The Innovation Zone will also be open to the public on Friday afternoon from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Sunday, Lincoln Military Housing will host Military Family Day at the Pier, that will feature games and activities for military families. On Monday, Nov. 8, the General Atomics sponsored Fleet Week/SDMAC Breakfast will be held at the ADM Kidd Club, and on Tuesday, Nov.9 the USAA sponsored Enlisted Recognition Luncheon, will be held at the Nautilus Pavilion. The series of events will wrap up on Thursday, Nov. 11 with the Second Annual Veterans Day Boat Parade. Pleasure boats will be decorated in patriotic themes and the parade will start at Shelter Island at noon and work its way past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, and cross the bay to Coronado.

San Diego’s Fleet Week was created in 1997 by community and business leaders and by 2001 the event had grown into a major local nonprofit event.
