Collaborating with Reality Changers, an organization that prepares youth to become first-generation college graduates, San Diego-based Robolink taught 2nd through 12th grade students in robotics, artificial intelligence and fundamentals in coding this past summer to help them discover skills they may not know about and investigate the possibility of STEM-driven careers.
This collaboration was funded by San Diego Squared, a community organization focused on increasing diversity in STEM companies.
“We believe that incredible talent lives in all communities,” said H. Puentes, executive director of San Diego Squared. “Investigating in partnerships like this provides underrepresented students the fundamentals in coding they need to lead the STEM talent pipeline of tomorrow.”
Robolink creates fun and approachable robotics kits that teach coding and engineering to kids and teens and has designed the programs. The skills were taught by Robolink certified instructors in local summer camps in June and August.

California Bank & Trust, headquartered in San Diego with more than 80 branches statewide, recently completed its first ever, all employee virtual conference. The four-day event reinforced the company’s values and helped them connect to clients and communities across the state. Part of the conference’s conclusion was a “Give Day,” that focused on the bank’s associates giving back to their communities through charitable acts and volunteerism.

“We’ve spent more than a year managing the disruptive effects of operating in a pandemic and it felt like the right time to reinforce our long-standing emphasis on investment in our people and our communities,” said CB&T;’s President and CEO Eric Ellingsen.
As part of Give Day, the bank partnered with five nonprofits throughout the key markets of San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area. Feeding San Diego was a featured nonprofit where employees packed more than 80,000 pounds of food.
