Scientist.com Acquires InsideScientific

 San Diego-based Scientist.com, completed the acquisition of InsideScientific, a life science webinar, virtual event and content creation company on Sept. 14. Scientist.com is the life science industry’s leading R&D; marketplace and this deal expands its “biotech as a service” (BaaS) platform.

The acquisition allows the Solona Beach company to offer a full suite of science-based content and event production services — such as webinars, virtual events, podcasts and training programs — to its existing global network of researchers and service providers. 

“InsideScientific has built an industry-leading science education platform used by thousands of life science researchers,” said Kevin Lustig, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Scientist.com. “We have joined forces to create a single research ecosystem that empowers and connects scientists worldwide, and speeds up medical research.” 

Scientist.com was founded in 2007 and it currently operates online marketplaces for 24 of the world’s top 30 pharmaceutical companies, over 80 biotech companies and the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). 

InsideScientific is headquartered in Canada and the company’s founder and CEO, Andy Henton stated in the announcement that together with Scientist.com they can help advance scientific discovery at a greater speed and scale.

“This is an exciting stage in the evolution of InsideScientific,” Henton said. “Joining Scientist.com will enable us to expand our virtual event and content production capabilities, so we can share late-breaking research, industry trends and lab technology innovation with the world’s top scientific minds. Inside Scientific’s mission is to advance scientific discovery by facilitating and improving the exchange of information between researchers.” 

The price of the deal was not disclosed, but the transaction was a mix of cash and stock according to a Scientist.com spokesperson.
