Nautilus Solar Energy Is Opening San Diego Office

Summit, N.J.-based Nautilus Solar Energy LLC is opening an office in San Diego to serve as a base of its operations for the West Coast solar market.

The company recently signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Kern Sanitation Authority in Bakersfield for a solar panel installation to be installed at the Kern Sanitation Authority’s Wastewater Treatment plant.

“Falling installation costs have made solar energy competitive with electricity prices in many of the high insolation (sun-exposure) areas on the West Coast. The Kern Sanitation Authority Project is an excellent example of that,” said Jim Rice, CEO of Nautilus in a statement. “We are able to compete based on retail electricity prices and provide our customers with cost savings on their electricity bills from an environmentally beneficial product with no upfront capital cost. The West Coast office will enable us to be responsive to the market and our customers’ needs.”

The company, founded in 2006, develops, constructs, finances, owns and operates solar electric systems in New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, California, Florida and Canada.
