Oceanside-based Tri-City Medical Center (TCMC) took home 23 trophies, including the prestigious Best in Show award, at the Health Care Communicators of Southern California’s Finest Awards late last week.
It was the second year in a row TCMC won Best in Show.
In all, Tri-City received eight gold, nine silver and five bronze awards, which centered around brand campaigns and communication and design projects that elevated the hospital and its staff in 2021.
Health Care Communicators of Southern California is a member-led organization that trains and connects healthcare professionals. The Finest Awards is an annual celebration recognizing the best in their field. Last year, TCMC took home 19 awards including Best in Show for their work in 2019-2020.
TCMC’s marketing campaigns in 2021 centered around their 60th anniversary celebration, highlighting their six decades of experience — and revitalizing the look and feel of their hospital.
In an effort to breathe new life into the hospital, the communications team created “Pockets of Awesome” where vibrant and educational installations can be discovered throughout the building. They also created a dynamic timeline that pops off the wall across from Patient Registration, reminding patients of their vast experience and installed visually stunning photographic art from the cities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.
These projects won gold in several categories.
TCMC also won Best in Show and gold awards for projects highlighting their doctors, nurses and staff in their Heroes Live Here displays inside and outside the hospital, a campaign to honor the many heroes who work at TCMC.
“The pandemic elevated the public’s awareness of the heroes who have answered the call to care for others. These projects allowed us to honor them and the communities we serve,” said Aaron Byzak, chief external affairs officer for TCMC. “I am proud of the small but mighty team in External Affairs who brought these projects to life.”
