City National Bank Supports Habitat for Humanity

City National Bank has provided close to 80 hours of volunteer service to San Diego Habitat for Humanity in support of the nonprofit’s Women Build program. The business announced the support on May 23.

Additionally, City National donates over $350,000 annually to Habitat for Humanity nationwide. Those dollars benefit San Diego Habitat. This is the 14th Annual Women Build event, which City National and its colleagues have supported for a number of years along with two to three Habitat build projects each year. During this year’s event, over 150 Women Builders contributed their time, talent, and treasure to complete important finish work on six new homes in National City.

They also helped to repair another home nearby by building some fencing and painting, as part of Habitat’s Home Preservation Program.“We are very proud of the support we have been able to provide to San Diego Habitat for Humanity, and particularly the Women Build program,” said Travis Van Treese, senior vice president and commercial banking manager for City National’s San Diego region. “Our colleagues thoroughly enjoy giving back to the community and volunteering their time in helping low-income families realize the American dream of homeownership.”

Since 2008, Women Build volunteers have built or repaired 23 houses in San Diego County and raised $839,000. Bank representatives noted that women can create significant change in their neighborhoods by volunteering and bringing attention to the fact that homeownership is a pathway to better financial futures, better education, better health, and a more cared-for, connected community.

“We are so grateful for City National’s generosity of both their monetary and volunteer support of our mission to help families own a home,” said Kwofi Reed, president and CEO of San Diego Habitat for Humanity. “We couldn’t do what we do without the generous support of companies like City National and their employees. Their involvement is what makes the difference in the lives of our homeowners.”

City National Bank provides banking, investment and trust services through 73 branches, including 19 full-service regional centers.

It has assets of $91.5 billion and is a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada.
