American Specialty Health Moving Its Headquarters to Indiana; It Will Maintain Local Office

American Specialty Health Inc. will move its headquarters from San Diego to Carmel, Ind., in the second quarter of 2014. It will maintain its office in San Diego, the company said.

The privately held company reportedly did $221 million in revenue last year.

The company, which employs more than 1,000, expects the expansion will create 300 new jobs for the Indiana region by 2014, which will grow to 675 new jobs by 2016.

Privately held ASH sells prevention and wellness programs, fitness and exercise programs, and specialty network management services — the latter of which accounts for the largest share of business.

The opening of the Indiana office is part of a five-year strategic plan to develop redundancy offices in three geographic regions and split its operations, IT and customer service and call center teams equally at each site. The company last year opened an office near Dallas, which employs 150.

While ASH will be investing $10 million in its relocation to Carmel, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered ASH up to $11,500,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $250,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until the employees are actually hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives

At least 50 jobs at the new Carmel office will be filled by current employees from the San Diego and Dallas operations centers, the company said.
