The nonprofit San Diego Harbor Police Foundation will present a free virtual event on human trafficking in San Diego on Tuesday, May 10. Viewers are welcome to join between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the link provided here.

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides funding and education for three critical initiatives: community outreach, officer wellness, and human trafficking awareness and training programs.

Human trafficking in San Diego is estimated to be an $800 million enterprise, the second largest criminal enterprise behind drug trafficking.

Speakers will include District Attorney Summer Stephan, San Diego Harbor Police Foundation President Jeff Wohler and San Diego County Lodging Association Executive Director Fred Tayco.

Also scheduled to speak is Keelin Washington, a human trafficking survivor.

The virtual event will help people learn about free, online training for employees who work in San Diego’s motels and hotels, restaurants and bars, and airport. Workers will learn what to look for to spot a victim or a human trafficking incident. They will also learn what actions they can take.
