LOCAL INDEPENDENT BREWERS WIN 19 MEDALS THIS YEAR
San Diego Wins Big At Beer Competition
Friday, September 24, 2021

Founded in 2018 and with 40 employees, Two Roots was awarded a Gold medal at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival (GABF), dubbed North America’s largest beer competition.
Two Roots Brewing Co. was recognized in the Non-Alcoholic beer-style category for its “Enough Said” Helles. This year’s medal marks the second Gold medal win for “Enough Said” and the third consecutive year Two Roots takes home the GABF medal.
Despite evaluating 9,680 entries from 2,192 breweries nationwide, Two Roots was the only non-alcoholic craft beer brewery to secure a hat-trick win at the 35th edition of GABF.
Non-alcoholic beer continues to rise in popularity and the consumer response to our portfolio has been nothing short of exceptional," said Ron Goodson, president and CEO of Two Roots Brewing Co. "Securing three consecutive GABF medals solidifies our position in this rapidly growing category."
281 GABF Medals
Elsewhere, San Diego’s Kilowatt Brewing, Wild Barrel Brewing Co., Belching Beaver Brewery, Coronado Brewing Co., Mission Brewery and Rouleur Brewing Co. won in the Gold category; Eppig Brewing, TapRoom Beer Co., Puesto Cerveceria, My Yard Live Beer Co., Deft Brewing, North Park Beer Co. and Belching Beaver Brewery won in the Silver category; and Karl Strauss Brewing Co., WestBrew, North Park Beer Co., Craft Coast and Attitude Brewing Co. in the Bronze.
In total, San Diego independent brewers have earned 281 GABF medals since 1993.
“SDBG brewery members really outperformed and shined through the competition,” said Virginia Morrison, CEO and co-founder at Second Chance Beer and president at SDBG.
