San Diego Business Journal Seven Mile Casino, a gambling club located in Chula Vista with a reported $60 million annual revenue, is growing its portfolio of service offerings to build a new revenue stream.

Sammy’s Restaurant and Bar, a new food place inside the venue, was recently remodeled and reopened. The eatery will introduce a new expanded menu and opened its patio space, according to the company. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Sammy’s will be operated by Owner Sami Ladeki in partnership with Seven Mile Casino’s Owners Ryan Stone and Masis Kevorkian of Stones South Bay Corp.

Over 100 People

“Seven Mile prides itself on providing living wage jobs to all its employees, over 70% of whom are from diverse communities,” said Kevorkian. “We currently have 65 food and beverage staff who are servicing both the restaurant and the casino customers, in addition to our casino staff and are always looking for additional staff to join our team. The remodeled patio space, which is connected to the Casino, now seats over 100 people. We look forward to getting back to hosting events for community partners like our local chambers and local nonprofits, when people are ready to return to in-person gatherings.”

Added Stone, “Sami, and his team have been a great co-collaborator and partner as we worked to get this restaurant up and running. Even through the uncertainty of the past year and a half, we still envisioned a space where familines could gather, eat and enjoy each other’s company.”

Over 300 Employees

In 2017, the city of Chula Vista voted to transfer the ownership of Seven Mile Casino to the Stones South Bay Corp., a family owned and operated entertainment group in Sacramento. Seven Mile Casino was founded in 1946 and employs over 300 staffers. Stones South Bay Corp. also owns and operates Stones Gambling Hall in Citrus Heights, California.

Sammy’s Restaurant and Bar was founded in 1989 and has two restaurant concepts. It has 16 locations in California and Nevada, including at two airports and two card rooms, one being Seven Mile Casino. In August, Ladeki also reopened a La Mesa location after a $1 million renovation and expansion.

Sammy’s at Seven Mile Casino features a modern take on classic tavern fare, paired with a local brew list and hand-crafted cocktails. As part of the remodel, the company has added a section of popular Asian dishes to the menu at this location.
