The Better Business Bureau Serving the Pacific Southwest has announced two new members have joined their board of directors. Roxanne Govari, broker-owner of Pemberley Realty Group in San Diego and Allen Maxwell, president and CEO of Omni2Max of La Mesa. Each will be serving three year terms on the 51 member board.

“Our board of directors is comprised of a dedicated team of community leaders committed to providing guidance to BBB and its community of ethical businesses,” said Matthew Fehling, president and CEO of the BBB Serving the Pacific Southwest.

Originally from Iran, Govari opened the doors of Pemberley Realty in 2006. In 2019 she expanded her real estate business and joined forces with Compass. Also in 2019, her company was awarded the BBB Torch Award for Ethics.

Maxwell is a retired U.S. Naval Officer and a former federal employee who has more than 20 years of experience in defense and federal contracting. He owned a storefront retail packaging and shipment business, developed a clothing textile manufacturing business and now owns Omni2Max, a federal defense technical contracting firm.

AT&T, alongside Connected Nation is giving free internet subscriptions and wireless hotspots to 470 virtual learners in the San Diego area.

As California passes the one-year anniversary of the shift for public school students to remote education, many students continue to struggle with consistent connectivity. This is more so the case for students of color and those from low income families, according to Connected Nation.

“What makes this program so critical is that it seeks to help students who have been disproportionately disconnected from formal learning opportunities due to COVID-19,” said Tom Ferree, chairman & CEO of Connected Nation. “The investment being made through the AT&T K-12 homework gap program will not only allow these kids to fully participate in remote learning now, but also to catch up on learning lost during the pandemic. We must all work together to minimize and mitigate the impact that the pandemic has had on our must vulnerable youth.”

In total, 35,000 students from 100 schools and organizations across the nation will benefit from the donation -- part of a $10 million commitment from AT&T.
