Less than a year after completing a $12 million renovation, Hotel Karlan, a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel located in Carmel Highlands, will be closing.
According to WARN filing made with the Employment Development Department, the 174-room hotel will be permanently closing on Dec. 31. “The closure has been prompted by the purchase of the land and plans to redevelop the property for residential purposes,” it reads. 101 employees will be affected.
No bumping rights exist and no employee is represented by Unions, states the filing, adding that all employees will be paid “all earned wages and agreed upon benefits at the time of their termination.”
