El Jardin Restaurant, located in Liberty Station and owned by Rise & Shine Hospitality Group, will temporarily close, according to a spokesperson. The food place will shutter its doors for four weeks and reopen on Aug. 28 as El Jardin Cantina, a casual Mexican food eatery.

During the closing, the space will get a refresh, including the addition of new furnishings and décor. Chef Claudette Zepeda-Wilkins, the current chef, won’t be a part of the new concept, as per the information. Instead, El Jardin Cantina will have three as-yet-revealed chefs overseeing its kitchen. The bar will also shift gears a bit, focusing on modern margarita-inspired cocktails as well as beer and wine.

El Jardin first opened spring 2018. In May, it was chosen as one of eight locations in San Diego out of the 151 affordable restaurants in California for Michelin’s Bib Gourmand eateries list.
