The Walter J. and Betty C. Zable Foundation has awarded a $20,000 grant to San Diego Oasis to support its Intergenerational Literacy Tutoring Program for at-risk, elementary school students in Title One schools who have fallen behind in reading and comprehension. Currently serving over 850 students in 11 school districts throughout San Diego County, this grant will help Oasis to greatly increase the number of older adult tutors and schools served. Over 600 tutors are carefully paired with each student, once a week for one hour with the same student for the entire year. One student, one older adult, two lives changed forever. Visit oasisnet.org
