SD 500 recap: Stan Crooke has led Ionis through scientific development and into commercialization and grown the company to a market cap of about $6.3 billion. Ionis in 2018 had its third consecutive year of profitability. Crooke led a new platform for drug discovery; Ionis has one of the sector’s more advanced pipelines with 38 drugs in development. Crooke led the creation of the anti-cancer program at Bristol-Myers in the first five years of his career and assumed responsibility for worldwide research and development at SmithKline Beckman. Crooke has served as an adjunct professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine and San Diego State University.
