The Cubic Global Defense (CGD) business division of San Diego-based Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) said on May 10 that is has received an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) caontract totaling $16 million, to provide immersive game-based courseware to support the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) training program.

Its Florida-based operation will be responsible for the development efforts of the Immersive Virtual Shipboard Environment (IVSE) for LCS, in alignment with U.S. Navy’s Ready Relevant Learning initiative, according to a news release.

“The additional delivery orders underscore our commitment to providing the Navy with innovative, cost-effective training solutions that are aligned with the Chief of Naval Operations’ vision of achieving high velocity learning through 21st century technology,” said Dave Buss, president of CGD.

Cubic’s IVSE is an advanced learning product for the LCS training program that immerses trainees in a photo-realistic, 3-D virtual environment to train various tasks in settings that are virtually identical to real-life scenarios.

Cubic provides integrated solutions for better situational understanding for transportation customers and the military.
