TacticalLaunch, a seed and early-stage incubator tailored toward those transitioning out of the U.S. Armed Forces, has launched its first cohort with 19 startups.

The program is a collaborative effort of ThinkTank Innovation, a nonprofit organization backed by San Diego-based VentureMoney Management Co., UC San Diego and San Diego State University.

ThinkTank Executive Chairman Mark R. Bernier said 42 applications were submitted for the program, of which 19 were accepted.

ThinkTank, which is based at WeWork’s downtown office at 600 B St., also plans to launch additional incubator and accelerator programs for entrepreneurs.

Participants in the first TacticalLaunch program include companies founded by Navy, Naval Reserve, Marine, Marine Corps Reserve, Airforce, Army, Army Reserve and Coast Guard veterans. Navy and Marine veterans are most highly represented, with nine and three companies in the cohort, respectively.

The 12-week program includes three-hour weekly evening sessions, five two-hour group mentoring sessions and additional one-on-one mentoring.
